Tournament Format
Team Tournament: Friday, May 23rd 12 - 5 PM
3 players per team (not required, but matching company/organization/club team apparel recommended).
Prize: $500 in total cash prize for the tournament powered by Ricochet. A traveling trophy is awarded to the winning team. This trophy must be brought back next year to give out to the new winning team.
Best of 5 matches (Order: Doubles, Singles1, Singles2, Singles3, Singles4). The details will be shared before the start of the event and will be based on ITTF Olympic style format. Each match is best of 3 out of 5 games. Once one team has reached 3 match wins, no further matches are played.
Depending upon the number of entries, all teams may play each other or we may have round robins where the top team in each round robin advances to the next round or in the case of a lot of teams signing up, we may use brackets with the winning teams advancing.
Doubles & Singles Tournaments: Friday, May 23rd 5:30 pm (doubles) & Saturday May 24th 12:00 pm (singles)
Best of 3 out of 5 games (Each game to 11 points). Round Robin Format. 3 to 5 players per round robin.
Prize: Cash prize for the event will be finalized in the week leading upto the tournament and will be handed out right after the completion of the event.
Plans for Live Broadcast of the Open Singles Final. A link to view live or see recording later would be shared.
Note: Certain tournament’s round robin games might be limited to best of 2 out of 3 (each game to 11 points) depending upon the of individual/team signups such that all games can be finished within the stipulated time.
Eligibility:
Beginner events
- Haven't won in the same category in the past
- Singles: USATT rating < 1,000 or Ratings Central rating < 900
- Doubles: USATT rating < 2,000 or Ratings Central rating < 1,800
Intermediate events
- Singles: USATT rating < 1,500 or Ratings Central rating < 1,300
- Doubles: USATT rating < 3,000 or Ratings Central rating < 2,600
Facility
USATT rules apply to all matches. This is a non-sanctioned tournament.
Please bring your own paddles (some basic spare paddles might be available).
Orange NITTAKU 3-STAR NEXCEL 40+ Balls provided by Paddle Palace will be used.
As per tradition, the tournament is optimized to be played under a tent on four tables in open space.
The CelebrAsian Festival has several dozen food vendors, but they might have huge lines or might not have options as per your dietary needs thus plan accordingly to bring food or ask someone to buy for you.
We will supply several water bottles to be used only by the players, though carry some extra water with you.
Guest of honor
Brad Argo, owner of Ricochet, table tennis enthusiast and friend of Adam Bobrow (Snakeman & The Voice of Table Tennis ), will be our Guest of Honor on Friday & present awards for the Team event on the stage.
Dhiren Narottam, US Table Tennis Hall of Famer, will be our Guest of Honor on Saturday and present awards for the Open event on the stage.
Important Details
Signing up for concurrent singles and doubles events e.g., Open & Intermediate events is allowed
Avoid wearing orange due to the color of the ball.
Apart from Women’s event all other events are co-ed and everyone is welcome.
Do your best to finish each match within 30 minutes to help us run the tournament smoothly within time limits. Inform of your whereabouts to the tournament co-directors and don’t vanish for food.
The results from the CelebrAsian Table Tennis Tournament will be posted on the Ratings Central website.
If you never had a rating before, then you will be assigned one now.

If Participant is a minor, IAA will need a minor consent form completed by Parent or Guardian. Ask the volunteers at the tournament for the form.
