Abhay Nadipuram - Attorney at the Principal Financial Group
Abhay Nadipuram is an attorney at the Principal Financial Group, primarily supporting Principal’s asset management arm, Principal Global Investors, LLC. Abhay practices in the areas of derivatives, regulation of investment advisers (US and ex-US), structuring and distribution of private funds and other investment vehicles, and global asset management compliance. Abhay also supports Principal Global Services Pvt. Lmtd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Principal, in Pune, India. Prior to joining Principal in November 2015, he was in private practice in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. At Principal, Abhay is on the steering committee for the Asian Employee Resource Group (AERG) and assisted in developing a series on what it is like for Principal employees to work in Principal’s offices in India called “Live a Little, Learn a Little: Spotlight on India”.
Abhay has served on a number of not-for-profit boards. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Polk County Bar Association, the Iowa Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, and Board of Governors for the Iowa State Bar Association, where he also serves as the Chair of the Young Lawyers’ Division Diversity Committee. He previously served on the Board of Directors for the Willis Dady Emergency Shelter in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Abhay is currently in the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute’s Community Leadership Program, expecting to complete the program in May 2017. Abhay is also a member of the Des Moines Choral Society.
Abhay is a first-generation Indian-American and grew-up in Waterloo, Iowa. He is a 2010 graduate of Wartburg College, where he received his B.A. in political science, sang in the Wartburg Choir for four years, and was Student Body President in 2009-10. Abhay received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2013, where he served as Co-Student Body President in 2012-13 and was an Editor for the Journal of Corporation Law. Abhay resides in Des Moines, Iowa.
